The FR-E720-0.1K belongs to Mitsubishi Electric’s FR-E700 series of general-purpose inverters, designed as easy-to-use, compact drives for small three-phase induction motors. It is rated for 0.1 kW (100 W) motor capacity on a 3-phase 200–240 V, 50/60 Hz supply, making it suitable for light-duty applications such as small conveyors, fans, pumps and simple machine axes. According to series specifications, the 0.1 kW model offers around 0.3 kVA rated capacity and 0.8 A output current with overload capability of 150% for 60 seconds and 200% for 3 seconds.
The FR-E700 platform features advanced magnetic flux vector control (on 3.7 kW and below), providing up to 200% torque at 0.5 Hz for improved low-speed performance compared with simple V/f drives. Standard functions include PID control for process applications, multiple preset speeds, acceleration and deceleration ramps with S-curves, automatic restart, and speed search (flying restart) to smoothly catch a rotating motor. Built-in energy saving functions and load pattern selection help optimize efficiency for fan and pump loads.
Physically, the FR-E720-0.1K is a very compact, panel-mount unit with protection class IP20 in standard form and IP40 when used in Mitsubishi’s totally enclosed structure options. Cooling is by natural convection at this small power rating, which reduces maintenance compared with fan-cooled units. The front panel provides a basic LED display and keypad for parameter setting and monitoring, and optional parameter units allow easier commissioning and parameter copy between drives.
The FR-E700 family supports various options such as braking units, EMC filters and communication interfaces, and the FR-E720-0.1K can be integrated into small control panels for OEM or retrofit projects. Typical applications include speed control of small motors in packaging machines, food processing equipment, building services and general automation where a simple, reliable VFD is sufficient.
